Why You Are Still Tired
You are doing everything right, so why are you still so exhausted?
You have tried herbal tea, the early bedtime and even no screens after 9pm. But when you crawl into bed, you lay there wide awake, your mind replaying the day.
You aren't doing it wrong, your nervous system is just more focussed on survival than rest.
If like many women, you have spent years focussing on everyone and everything else, other than yourself (kids, work, friends, house, etc), your nervous system has forgotten how to switch off.
That's why I created Sleep Calm, a simple guide to help your nervous system feel safe enough to rest again.
Why your body can't "just relax"
When stress becomes your normal, your brain keeps scanning for danger, even when you are in the safety of your bed. Your nervous system can't tell the difference between your phone notification and a tiger.
So your body stays alert, even when you are trying to sleep because it doesn't know that quiet doesn't mean danger.

Why modern life keeps you wired
Our days are so full of noise, tasks and emotions. Notifications, blue lights, endless decisions. Your brain never gets the signal that those stressors have finished and the day is over.
Add hormones into the mix, especially if you are going through a hormonal change like perimenopause, and suddenly your sleep rhythm is all over the place. You feel wide awake at night, exhausted in the morning and coffee becomes your coping mechanism.
You can't fix it by trying harder or forcing yourself to sleep, you need to teach your nervous system safety.
How to start rebuilding real rest
You can't force sleep, but you can create the conditions for it to return. Try this gentle evening routine:
Dim the lights and lower the noise, signal to your body that your environment is getting ready for rest
Lengthen your exhale as your breath, this teaches your body it is safe to start relaxing
Take a warm bath before bed, this will calm your vagus nerve and help you reach optimal temperature for sleep
Journal your worries, empty your mind onto paper to stop overthinking and declutter your emotions, remind yourself you can come back to that tomorrow if you need to.
Why I created Sleep Calm
When I was experiencing a time of high stress, my sleep was terrible and I realised that the less sleep I got the more stressed I felt, it was a never ending cycle. I would go to bed wishing for sleep, but the pressure I was putting on myself made it worse.
I started paying attention to my daily routine and what I had done the days I slept better, I tested supplements and different night time routines until I found one that worked. That's what I share in Sleep Calm as well as many other techniques, tools and supplements that I know have helped other people.
Its a gentle guide to help you rebuild your relationship with rest, through nervous system regulation, nutrition support and mindset tools.
It's not about finding a rigid routine, or perfection, its about finding tools that support your.
You deserve to feel rested
You don't have to do more to sleep, you don't need to spend £100's on supplements, or sit in a dark room for hours.
Your body already knows how to do it, you just need to send the signals that it's missing in this modern world. Our nervous systems weren't designed for constant blue light and phone notifications.
When you start creating cues of safety, and supporting your bo
dy by listening to what it is telling you, your sleep will change.
